The 5-day Introduction
to Visual Basic 6.0 course provides an introduction to the Visual
Basic 6 development environment, the use of simple and ActiveX
controls, working with data types and variables, formatting and
string manipulation functions, creating custom functions and procedures,
error handling and debugging, file access, working against a Microsoft
Access database using built-in controls, an introduction into
object-oriented programming, and the creation and deployment of
applications.
The 5-day Advanced
Visual Basic 6.0 course is focused on two main areas: the definition
and use of COM components, and database programming using an ODBC-compliant
or SQL Server database. Among the other topics discussed are the
use of Windows API functions in Visual Basic applications, the
creation and use of ActiveX controls, threading in Visual Basic
applications, working with the Microsoft Transaction Server, and
creating IIS applications. The main goal of each class is to enable
the participant to create business applications with Visual Basic
that utilize multi-tier application design strategy for maintainability
and reusability. Hands on exercises are performed throughout training
each day to reinforce key concepts.
